In 1992, an famous artist visited Malaysia and was commissioned by yours truly to do a painting. He was paid RM5,000.00 for his work.
Present day. Received a call from Hong Kong. A collector is interested in that piece and had offered RMB2.5m for it. The artist no longer paints because age has caught up with him.
Question. What would you do?
- Even without the RMB2.5m, life will still very very good.
- The price of the painting might go up in the next few years.
- 16 years was a farking long time for an investment.
- Calculation tells you no bank can ever give you that kind of returns.
Your views please. First Class Flight to Hong Kong in 48 hours. Thank you.
EDIT: Probably the above story is hard to believe or I have no readers, hence, the poor response. Nevertheless, decision was made to keep the painting.
Cibai.
Lilian - Woi! Why you cibai me??!! Its suppose to be Hello lah. Niamah!!! Its RMB 2.5m not RM82.5. RMB, the currency they use in China. You know China. The Olympics. Celaka!!!
LOL, cibai = hello in Ah Lian language mah. And I really see RM82.5 and thot u own a Picaso mah…. Soli lor…if RMB then ok lah, I believe lah.
Sell the painting then use the money to buy some bungalow here in Penang, price will also go up in the next few year.
Walao.. so many $$$$. A very good investment, but not to me. I might see it as a piece of sh*t when others treat it as a valuable piece. hihihihihi…
Why I see so many resemblance of this ’sai’ blog with Ah Lian’s? And by the way, where is the ’sai’? You only like to pang but pang what? Pang Juo? hahahaha
Keep the painting!!
Also don’t forget to:-
1. Maintain the painting in tip top condition
2. Shoot a digital image of it and email to auction houses like Christie, Sotheby, etc to do appraisal yearly (a fee may/may not be charge)
Owner may likely make more money IF the artist mati liao…

Congratulations to the owner, added million(s) to his/her coffer
